The difference between artificial leather and synthetic leather

Leather Surface: Genuine leather has its own unique natural grain, and the surface has a natural luster. When pressed or pinched, the leather surface shows no dead wrinkles or creases, nor any cracks; while the surface of artificial leather, though similar to leather, shows unnatural grain upon closer inspection, a brighter luster than genuine leather, and often vibrant colors. Pressing the surface with a finger reveals no obvious pores or wrinkles, and even if wrinkles appear after pressing, they do not disappear naturally. Leather Body: Genuine leather feels soft and supple, while imitation leather, though also soft, lacks suppleness and hardens in cold weather. When the leather is bent, genuine leather bends and springs back naturally with good elasticity, while imitation leather bends stiffly and has poor elasticity. Cut Edge: The cut edge of genuine leather shows a consistent color, with clearly visible and fine fibers. However, the cut edge of imitation leather lacks the fibrous texture of leather, or the underlying fibers and resin are visible, or the backing fabric and resin bonding can be seen in two layers from the cut edge. Leather Backing: The front of genuine leather is smooth and even with pores and grain, while the back has obvious fiber bundles, appearing fuzzy and uniform. The surface of imitation leather has no pores, and some synthetic leather has the same appearance on both sides, with a smooth and glossy surface on both the front and back; some artificial leather has different front and back sides, with the backing fabric visible on the inside; however, some have a leather-like appearance on both sides, with a leather-like fuzz on the inside, requiring careful observation to distinguish between genuine and imitation leather.
